Brazil beat Serbia 2-0 in the first round of Group G group stage in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the Lusail Stadium on Thursday.


In the first half, Neymar's corner went straight to the goal and almost caused a scare. After that, Rafinha's shot was easily confiscated. Subsequently, Vinicius' shot went slightly wide of the post. Not long after the start of the second half, Nemanja Gudelj almost set his team on fire, Rafinha's resulting shot after stealing the ball was resolved thrillingly. Later, Alex Sandro hit the post shooting from long range, and the deadlock was not broken until Richarlison scored a follow-up shot. Afterwards, Richarlison scored a wonder goal. Before the end of the game, Casemiro's shot hit the crossbar from a long range. In the end, Brazil beat Serbia 2-0 without any suspense.




First Half


In the 13th minute, Brazil got a corner oppotunity. Neymar took the corner and shot it straight towards the goal with his right foot, but his shot was punched away Vanja Milinković-Savić single-handedly. Brazil almost succeeded to break the deadlock in the most unexpected way.


In the 35th minute, Lucas Paquetá passed horizontally from the front, Raphinha quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the penalty area center of the box before shooting with his left foot, but his shot was easily confiscated by Milinković-Savić.


6 minutes later, Casemiro made a long pass from his own half, Vinícius Júnior successfully beaten the offside trap, got the ball, dribbled into the left side of the box then volleyed with his right foot, but his shot slightly just wide of the left post.


At the end of the first half, Brazil and Serbia entered half-time having been goalless.




Second Half


Both teams switched sides as the game continued. In the 46th minute, Brazil made a quick counterattack. Nemanja Gudelj committed a costly unforced error while trying make clearance from his own half, Raphinha quickly followed up, stolen the ball, dribbled into the center of the box before shooting with his left foot , fortunately the latter's shot was blocked by Vanja Milinković-Savić who had to get down to the ground and stretched his legs. Serbia almost conceded unneccessarily!


In the 60th minute, Rafinha passed horizontally from the right wing, Alex Sandro quickly followed up, got the ball, adjusted his angle and then shot with his left foot from long range, however his shot hits the left post and bounced off. Brazil failed to break the deadlock which they've been looking to!


2 minutes later, Neymar made a through pass from the left side of the box. Upon receiving the pass, Vinícius volleyed with his right foot from the left side of the box, his shot was initially parried not far away by Milinković-Savić, after picking the loose ball, Richarlison pushed the ball into the bottom right corner of the empty net with his right foot from a very close distance and easily succeeded. Brazil finally broke the deadlock and took a 1-0 lead! Richarlison finally broke his one-and-a-half-month goal drought in all competitions!


In the 65th minute, Neymar was viciously tackled by Nikola Milenković while attacking at the front, he couldn't bear the pain for a while, but he still insisted on continuing the game with injury.


4 minutes later, Serbia won a corner opportunity. Dušan Tadić took the corner and crossed it into the box, Strahinja Pavlović rose high and attempted with a header from the center of the box, however his effort flew high out of the pitch.


In the 73rd minute, Vinícius passed horizontally from the left side of the box, Richarlison stopped the ball with his back, jumped high and successfully "bicycle kick"-ed into the bottom left corner of the net with his right foot thus creating a wonder strike to double his goal tally and leave Milinković-Savić helpless. Brazil extended its lead to 2-0!


7 minutes later, Neymar, who could no longer bear the pain, limped off to the sidelines in tears and was replaced by Antony.


In the 81st minute, Gabriel Jesus passed horizontally from the front, Casemiro quickly followed up and took a long shot with his right foot from just outside the penalty area upon receiving the pass, unfortunately his shot hits the crossbar and bounced. Brazil missed the golden opportunity to expand its lead further!


As the final whistle is blown, Brazil easily defeated Serbia 2-0 and got off to a good start.
