◤Ligue 1◢ Breel Embolo and Myron Boadu scores near the end on each half as Monaco beats Montpellier with a 0-2 away win..




Monaco beat Montpellier 0-2 in the matchday 10 of the 2022/23 Ligue 1 season at the Stade de la Mosson on Sunday.


In stoppage time in the first half, Embolo volleyed in a fierce strike to take the lead for the visitors. 10 minutes before the end of the second half, Boadu easily pushed the ball into the net from a quick counterattack to seal the victory. In the end, Monaco defeated Montpellier away 0-2. Montpellier, who fell to their 19th defeat in 2022, is temporarily placed 10th with 12 points; while Monaco is temporarily placed 5th with 20 points.



First Half


In the 24th minute, Montpellier got a corner. Téji Savanier took the corner and crossed it into the penalty area. Christopher Jullien jumped high in the middle of the penalty area with a header, but his attempt was blocked off for a corner by Breel Embolo's header. 2 minutes later, Wissam Ben Yedder took crossed into the penalty area from the edge of the byline on the left, the ball was initially blocked and cleared not far away by Jullien's header, after Caio Henrique picked up the loose ball and adjusted the angle, the latter took a long shot with his right foot from outside the penalty area, however his shot was saved by Jonas Omlin.


In the 40th minute, Montpellier played a quick counterattack. Elye Wahi made a straight pass from the front, Arnaud Nordin quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the left side of the penalty area and then made a cut back pass, only for Vanderson, who was returning to defend, blocked the ball off the goal line in time, thus Montpellier missed the golden opportunity to score first!


In the 1st minute of stoppage time in the first half, Maghnes Akliouche crossed into the penalty area from the right, after picking up the ball and dribbling into the left side of the penalty area, Ben Yedder then made a horizontal pass. Breel Embolo stopped the ball and turned in the middle of the penality area upon receiving the pass before rifling a fierce shot with his right foot into the upper left corner of the net. Monaco break the deadlock first and took a 0-1 lead! This was the 5th goal which Embolo has scored in 6 matches in all competitions for his club and country.


At the end of the first half, Montpellier temporarily trailed Monaco 0-1 and entered halftime.



Second Half


Both teams changed sides as game continued. In the 52nd minute, Montpellier got a corner. Téji Savanier took the corner and crossed it into the penalty area. Christopher Jullien jumped high in the middle of the penalty area with a header, his attempt was close but just slightly wide of the left post. In the 63rd minute, Krépin Diatta made a horizontal pass from the right, Mohamed Camara stopped the ball, adjusted the angle and then shot from outside the penalty area with his right foot, his his shot was held onto by Omlin.


In the 80th minute, Caio Enrique made a horizontal pass from the left side of the penalty area, Myron Boadu successfully countered the offside trap, followed up and converted a right-footed shot at a very close distance in front of the left goal which Omlin failed to save, Monaco sealed the victory at 0-2! After a lapse of half a year, the Dutch U21 international star who had just returned from injury quickly broke his scoring drought!


In the 2nd minute of stoppage time, Aleksandr Golovin made a forward pass from the front, Takumi Minamino quickly followed up, got the ball, dribbled into the edge of the left byline in the penalty area and then shot with his left foot from a diffcult angle, his effort was parried not far away by Omlin, after picking up the loose ball, Vanderson then shot with his right foot, but the latter's shot was caught by Omlin.


The game ended with Monaco beating Montpellier 0-2 away, and Les Monagasque welcomed their 4th consecutive victories in all competitions.
