After beating Watford, Antonio Conte is happy with the commitment of Spurs players
1/3/2022, 00:07WATFORD -- Tottenham Hotspur had to wait until the 90+6 minute to win a narrow 1-0 win over host Watford in the English Premier League match, Saturday (1/1) night WIB. Davidson Sanchez scored the winning goal.
Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte admitted that he was lucky to have young players and that it was good for future improvements. He saw that there was hunger in the young players in yesterday's match. The young player benefits Conte because it is not easy to play every two days.
"I'm happy with the commitment of the players and it's another clean sheet. We showed solidity in this aspect," Conte said as quoted by Skysports , Sunday (2/1).
On this occasion Conte spoke again about the future of Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. He said for sure the club wanted to keep the French goalkeeper. He emphasized that Lloris' level of play was unquestionable, including throughout the match against Watford.
But the important thing, said Conte, is that Lloris must focus on the team rather than thinking about other things. The reason is, when Conte talks about Lloris' relationship with the team, both of them need each other. So Lloris really needs his strength for Tottenham.
“When you play very high with the defensive line, the goalkeeper has to follow the game and not just stay on the line. Hugo today showed that he is a top goalkeeper. For us, he is very important and I am sure in a short time the club will find a solution because he loves Tottenham and Tottenham love him.
Tottenham continue to approach the top four of the English Premier League standings. Spurs are in sixth position with 33 points or two points adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal. The chances of Spurs sitting in the top four are quite open considering they still have two games more in savings than Arsenal.
