Prior to the match, PSG officially introduced their new signings namely Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Gini Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos and Lionel Messi. However, only Wijnaldum and Hakimi made their debuts in that match.
PSG were already 1-0 up when the game had only been running for three minutes through Mauro Icardi's header. The former Inter Milan striker welcomed Diallo's cross from the left wing well. Had to wait for the results of the VAR review of Icardi's standing position, the results stated that he was not in an offside position so the goal he scored was valid.

Mbappe then doubled PSG's lead in the 25th minute with a right-footed shot. Two minutes later, PSG scored again. This time the goal was born from Draxler. The 3-0 score lasted until halftime.
In the second half, Strasbourg played more daring but PSG still had control of the ball. Strasbourg managed to reduce the deficit to 3-1 in the 53rd minute through Gameiro's header.
Strasbourg got some momentum back when Ajorque pulled it back to 3-2 in the 64th minute. The remaining time that is still a lot makes them more open to pose a threat to PSG.
But their hopes of an equalizer became even more severe when Djiku got a red card after getting two yellow cards. Superior in the number of players, PSG also scored a goal through Pablo Sarabia to bring PSG ahead 4-2 in the 86th minute. The goal was also the closing goal in the match.
