Alexis Sanchez Reportedly Ends Contract at Inter Milan to Join Marseille
8/2/2022, 11:09JAKARTA -- Alexis Sanchez has reportedly ended his contract with Inter by mutual agreement after weeks of negotiations. Sanchez is now expected to sign a contract with Olympique Marseille.
The 33-year-old Chilean national team player is still under contract at Inter until June 2023. The problem is, he is not included in the plans of coach Simone Inzaghi. Above all, Sanchez can no longer be the highest-paid player in the Inter squad, as reported by Football Italia, Monday (1/8/2022).
He received around 7 million euros per season or around Rp. 106 billion after joining for free from Manchester United in September 2020. Previously, MU loaned him to Inter in the 2019/20 season.
His agent rejected Inter's offer to pay 4 million euros per season, according to reports in Italy. So, the agreement reached is higher than that figure.
Nonetheless, Calcio e Finanza calculates, paying under 6.5 million euros to let the player go a year early still gives Inter an advantage.
Alexis Sanchez made 108 appearances in all competitions wearing the Inter shirt. He scored 20 goals and provided 23 assists. He helped Inter win the Serie A, Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup titles.
Inter have gone through a similar process this summer with Arturo Vidal. The Nerazzurri management paid Vidal severance pay in order to get him out a year early.
