BUENOS AIRES - A few hours before Barcelona faced Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the second leg of the last 16 of the Champions League, rumors returned to Lionel Messi. This time it came from a journalist from Argentina, Christian Martin, who said Messi would not stay at Barcelona, even though currently Joan Laporta was re-elected as club president.

"Based on my sources, Leo Messi will not stay at Barcelona. Even with the new leadership (of the club)," wrote Martin via his Twitter account, quoted by Marca , Wednesday (10/3).

Messi will be free agent status this summer. The Barca captain was linked with Manchester City and PSG instead of making up his mind to stay at Camp Nou. "PSG and Man City are still options before he leaves for MLS," said Martin.

Martin is claimed to have a strong connection in England when he mentions Messi will move to Manchester City. On the one hand, Laporta will not be passionate about defending Messi.

"I can not give off wrong expectations. The proposal will be given, but it all depends on (Messi). But I believe money is not the most important thing in this context," explained Laporta. "I hope this can be useful for decision making and help him stay at Barcelona. That's what we want."
