Arsenal Agree to Release Leno to Fulham
2022-07-29 05:07LONDON - Arsenal are claimed to have reached an agreement in principle with Fulham over a move for German goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
The Gunners are willing to release Leno to The Cottagers for a transfer fee of eight million pounds.
This is the latest development of negotiations between the two London clubs in the possible transfer of the 30-year-old goalkeeper.
In the past week, Arsenal and Fulham are known to continue to negotiate for the transfer of the former Bayer Leverku goalkeeper.
"Fulham and Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle for a transfer fee of up to £8 million."
"Once the final details have been agreed, the 30-year-old goalkeeper will undergo a medical and agree a personal contract with Fulham," Sky Sports reported on Wednesday (27/7).
Previously, Arsenal were reportedly willing to lower Leno's transfer price to smooth his move to Fulham.
Had set a transfer banderl of 12 million pounds, the Gunners finally accepted an offer of a transfer value of eight million pounds from Fulham.
Currently, Leno's contract with the Gunners has one year remaining. Leno was signed by Arsenal from Bayer Leverkusen in 2018.
Continuing to be the first choice in goal for the Gunners, Leno lost that position last season following the impressive form of Aaron Ramsdale.
Leno recorded only eight appearances in all competitions, including four in the English Premier League, throughout last season.
In fact, in the previous season, Leno played in 49 parties in all competitions. This condition finally affected the rumors of Leno's departure from the Emirates Stadium this summer.
On the other hand, Fulham coach Marco Silva is reportedly in need of a reliable goalkeeper to guard the Cottagers' goal, which will appear in the English Premier League this season.
Last season, when he won the Championship, Silva often rotated the goalkeeper position between Paulo Gazzaniga and Marek Rodak.
