Arsenal reportedly want to hook Martin Odegaard
2021-01-23 05:21 JAKARTA - Arsenal are reportedly considering a move for Real Madrid's young star Martin Odegaard. The Gunners are desperate to sign an attacking midfielder in the January 2021 transfer window and are now looking to capitalize on Odegaard's desire to leave Los Blancos.
Quoting Sportskeeda , Thursday (21/1), according to Sky Sports , Arsenal have made an approach to signing Odegaard on loan for the rest of the season. The Norway international has reportedly asked Real Madrid to let him go in January following a lack of regular playing time under Zinedine Zidane.
Odegaard joined Real Madrid in 2015 and is expected to become the next big player in world football. However, he saw his progress hampered because he was forced to join a number of clubs on loan in the following seasons.
The 22-year-old has joined Real Sociedad on loan for the 2019/2020 season and is enjoying an outstanding season. His performances for the Spanish team attracted the attention of a number of top clubs.
Real Madrid then decided to keep the midfielder last summer. However, he only played 367 minutes in the competition in the Spanish La Liga and became frustrated by the lack of opportunities.
Arsenal are reportedly ready to give Odegaard the playing time he needs by signing him on loan in January. However, the Gunners will face stiff competition from Real Sociedad, who are poised to bring their former star back to the club.
