MANCHESTER -- Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has denied claims he could join Barcelona this summer. A recent report claims Fernandes is frustrated at Old Trafford following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer and wants to leave United later this year.

The 27-year-old has again become an important player for the Red Devils this season. The Portugal international has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season and has contributed five goals and nine assists.

His agent Jorge Mendes is alleged to have entered into a relationship with Barcelona to offer his client to them. But Feranndes insists on showing reports about the transfer. He even branded it a bad journalism.

"And I think we have changed the year a few days ago and after all we are already on April 1. Or is it again just bad journalism?," Fernandes said in his social media post reported by Sportsmole, Sunday (9/1/2022).

The former Sporting Lisbon playmaker came off the bench when United lost 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves) in the Premier League. And he is likely to be back in the starting XI against Aston Villa in the FA Cup match on Sunday (16/1/2022).

The Red Devils dressing room is not doing well. As many as 11 Manchester United players reportedly want to leave Old Trafford. They are not happy with the coaching of interim coach Ralf Rangnick. Cristiano Ronaldo is also reportedly unhappy and is considering leaving if the next coach is not to his liking.
