Chiellini: He will decide his future after the MLS Finals and hopes to return to Juventus one day
12/8/2023, 07:54On Thursday, former Juventus centre-back Giorgio Chiellini, now playing for the Los Angeles Galaxy, said he would decide on the future of his career after the MLS Finals.
For the 39-year-old Chiellini, Saturday's MLS Finals at Lower.com Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, could be the final game of his career. "I still have my doubts," the player admitted in Thursday's pre-match conference.
"The club was honest with me and allowed me to make my own decisions," he continued. "I have to understand what I should follow: my head, or my heart? I'm going to be coaching with my family next week and try to better understand what the next step is, what the right decision is."
"This may or may not be my last game, we'll see. But at the moment I'm enjoying everything," Chiellini concluded.
Chiellini also revealed his personal plans for the future to TA earlier in the day. He made it clear, "I hope to return to Juventus in the future. I don't want to be a liar - Juventus has a place in my future plans."
"I've spent almost half my life at Juventus and I'm still in close contact with every one of them and I'm delighted they're having a great season. I'm looking forward to going back over the Christmas holidays to watch them play but I'm in no rush. My family and I enjoy living in Los Angeles."
Chiellini, on the other hand, has no intention of transitioning into a coach after retiring. He explained: "My desire is to work more in management. I have a degree in economics and an MBA in football. Coaches have to have dedication to their work, but I don't feel that right now."
