Conte insists he's proud to be Tottenham boss

Antonio Conte insists he is proud to be in charge of Tottenham Hotspur despite a difficult season for the north London club and uncertainty over his future.

Back-to-back defeats have cast doubt on Conte's place, but Monday's 1-0 Premier League win at Fulham revived Tottenham's hopes of challenging for a top-four finish.

The Italian looked emotional at the final whistle at Craven Cottage after Harry Kane's goal before half-time sealed a crucial victory for Tottenham.

" I'm really proud to be the manager of Tottenham Hotspur. I have the opportunity to be the manager of an important club and it makes me proud and everyone has to be clear about that, " Conte told Sky physical education.

Impressed by players' reactions

While they may have been lucky to win at Fulham , Conte said he had been impressed by the response of players who have been heavily criticized for their poor performances in recent weeks, with losses to Arsenal and Manchester City.

" I get great responses from my players. I ask them about their solidity last season and their willingness and desire to fight and be resilient, " he said.

" Today has to be the starting point for us to give everything and then we'll see what happens at the end. We have to try to stay in the Champions League and try to get to the next round in the FA Cup. "

It was only the second clean sheet in Tottenham's last 11 league games and the defensive performances improved, especially in the second half to Conte's delight.
