Conte Pede Inter Still Beat Milan Even with 11 Players
2021-02-05 19:25JAKARTA - Antonio Conte emphasized that Inter Milan will still beat AC Milan even though Zlatan Ibrahimovich was not sent off. Inter get the advantage when Milan only play with 10 people since the 58th minute in the Coppa Italiadi San Siro quarter-final match, Wednesday (27/1) early morning WIB.
Underdeveloped and then faced with an opponent who played with 10 men, Inter came back to equalize through a Romelu Lukaku penalty. Christian Eriksen scores the winner with a free kick in the seventh minute of injury time. Final score 2-1 for Inter.
"We are in the semifinals, the second year in a row we have succeeded here, so the players deserve credit for having the right approach from start to finish," Conte said as quoted by Football Italia , Wednesday (27/1).
He admitted it was a difficult match and Milan are a strong team who are top of the Serie A standings. So, he said, eliminating Milan in the quarter-finals was something to be happy about. Conte also considered Milan to have many quality players.
"But even with 11 against 11 we have a chance to reverse it. We took the initiative so far, their goalkeepers are the best players," he said.
According to Conte, his team must evaluate the failure of his team which creates so many chances, but cannot turn them into goals. Conte wants his team to have a strong will and be sharper in front of goal.
"We can't keep doing this, or we end up not winning the games we deserve," he said.
