JAKARTA -- Antonio Conte has been named the Best Coach of Serie A for the 2020-2021 season after leading Inter Milan to win the Italian Serie A title. Conte beat Milan architect Stefano Pioli with a one-vote advantage, as quoted by Football Italia, Friday (1/4/2022).

Conte then moved to Tottenham Hotspur after leaving Inter by mutual consent last summer. However, his work left him with praise and earned him the title of Coach of the Year, an award based on a vote by Italian coaches.

Conte helped the Nerazzurri win their first Scudetto in a decade. He beat Milan to the top spot in the title race and once again when it comes to this award. Conte received 20 votes compared to 19 for Rossoneri coach Pioli.

Third place went to Atalanta tactician Gian Piero Gasperini, who received eight votes from his team-mates.

"I am happy because this is the award chosen by my colleagues in the coaching profession. I want to share this recognition with my staff and players with them I shared last season's journey at Inter," he said.

This is the fourth time Conte has won the Panchina d'Oro award as Serie A coach of the year.

He also received the Panchina d'Argento for his achievements in Serie B, and was awarded a special merit award in 2018 when he won the Premier League with Chelsea.

"Antonio Conte deserves this award because in a short time he was able to transfer his mentality and philosophy to the players," FIGC Technical Sector President Demetrio Albertini said at the ceremony. "He is very satisfied to see his ideas put into practice on the pitch."
