Previously, Ronaldo did not join the squad because he was allowed to take a longer break to solve his family problems.


According to Romano, Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes is still trying to negotiate Ronaldo's exit from Old Trafford. But Man United insisted they didn't want to sell him. Man United coach Erik ten Hagsiap met with Ronaldo this week for discussions.

The Athletic reports that a decision has not been made on the possibility of Ronaldo joining training this Tuesday (26/7/2022) at Carrington. But Ronaldo will most likely have discussions with Ten Hag this week with both parties looking to find a solution as the new season is about to start.

Ronaldo's return to Manchester is seen as a positive sign and carries an indication the Portuguese will stay. Ronaldo's desire to leave Man United in order to continue to appear in the Champions League. Because the Red Devils will not take part in the competition after finishing sixth in the league last season.

Last season, Ronaldo scored 24 goals and provided three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions. Apart from not appearing in the Champions League, another reason Ronaldo wanted to leave was because he was worried about the club's transfer activities being less than optimal. Ronaldo is not sure the Red Devils can compete next season.

Bayern Munich have openly refused to sign Ronaldo even with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Chelsea. Recently there was news of Atletico Madrid's interest in the former Real Madrid star. But Atletico need big money to get Ronaldo.

"We planned Cristiano Ronaldo for this season and that's it. I'm looking forward to working with him. I've read the news (that he wants to leave), but what I'm saying is Cristiano is not for sale. He's in our plans and we want to be successful. together," said Ten Hag recently quoted by Sportsmole , Tuesday (26/7/2022).

Ten Hag claimed to have spoken before this matter arose. He said the conversation was going well. Ronaldo's contract still has 12 months left at Man United with the option of an additional year. Ten Hag said during the pre-season tour that Ronaldo could stay until 2024.
