Crystal Palace reportedly interested in signing Aberdeen

Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, reported on Tuesday that Crystal Palace is interested in signing Aberdeen's Cape Verde international winger Duk.

According to the report, Crystal Palace have been following Duk for several months and are very satisfied with his recent performances.

He said that since Ivory Coast international winger Wilfried Zaha is likely to leave the team after the end of the season to fulfill his dream of playing in European competitions, Duke naturally became one of the Eagles' best candidates to replace the former.

The 23-year-old Duk, whose real name is Luís Lopes, is born in Lisbon, Portugal on January 16, 2000. He is 1.8 meters tall. He primarily plays as a left winger, but he can also be deployed as a center forward. He has dual citizenships of Portugal and Cape Verde.

Duk played for the Sporting Clube de Portugal youth academy when he was a child, and later moved to the youth academy of local rivals Benfica in 2017.

Duk started playing for the Benfica B team in the summer of 2020, and scored 11 goals over two seasons to attract attention. However, due to the lack of oppotunities to be promoted to the first team, Duk chose leave the club after his contract expired last summer.

On July 15 of the same year, Duk joined Aberdeen as a free agent. At the same time, Benfica can retain 50% of his future transfer fee.

So far this season, Duk has played 34 times for the Scottish Premiership powerhouse in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and assisting 6 times.

Crystal Palace have been inconsistent this season, the club's over-reliance on Zaha to score goals has also become increasingly apparent in recently. They are currently 12th in the Premier League table, only 5 points away from the relegation zone.
