Crystal Palace reportedly wants to reappoint retired veteran head coach Roy Hodgson to replace recently sacked Patrick Vieira..

Sky Sports exclusively reported on Saturday that Crystal Palace is planning to re-appoint the club's former veteran head coach Roy Hodgson to come out of retirement and become the club's manager again to replace Arsenal and France legendary former international defensive midfielder Patrick Vieira.

According to the report, as the Crystal Palace hierarchy believe that Hodgson is the person most familiar with the club's model, thus the Eagles decided to look for help from the veteran head coach who retired a year and a half ago.

The report also added that if Hodgson cannot agree to come back and manage the club again, the Crystal Palace hierarchy will not rule out that they will approach the Austrian head coach Adi Hütter.

In addition, the Daily Mail added that Crystal Palace might approach Liverpool's former Spanish legendary head coach Rafael Benítez.

The 75-year-old Hodgson has coached in Sweden, Switzerland, England, Italy, Denmark, the United Arab Emirates, Norway, Finland and many other countries. He has managed Liverpool, Inter Milan, Fulham, West Bromwich Albion, Blackburn Rovers and many other traditional clubs.

After serving as the England national team manager from 2012 to 2016, Hodgson worked as the head coach of Crystal Palace from 2017 to 2021, helping the club successfully avoid relegation. After choosing to retire in the summer of 2021, Hodgson briefly returned to work as Watford's head coach in January last year, but after the Hornets were relegated from the Premier League, Hodgson, who did not want to spend energy on coaching for long-term, left the club and chose to retire again.

The 53-year-old Hütter was once known in the Austrian and German coaching industry for his achievements while managing Red Bull Salzburg and Eintracht Frankfurt. In the summer of 2021, Hütter replaced current RB Leipzig head coach Marco Rose as the head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach.

However, as Die Folen's results did not improve but declined in his only season as the Bundesliga club's head coach, he was ultimately sacked last summer.

The 62-year-old Benítez became the Reds' legendary manager forever after guiding Liverpool to a miraculous comeback, having forced the match into a late draw from trailing 3 goals behind, and eventually defeated AC Milan in a penalty shootout to win the fifth UEFA Champions League title in the club's history at İstanbul in 2005.

Since then, he has managed Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Dalian Professional and other clubs. When he took over Liverpool's fierce local rivals Everton in 2021, he underestimated the financial situation of the Toffees. As a result, the club's perennial lack of morale led to his sacking in January last year. After that, he hasn't been coaching and instead became a columnist to comment on the problems faced by his former club Liverpool this season.

Patrick Vieira replaced the retired Hodgson in July 2021 as the new head coach of Crystal Palace. However, since the club has been winless in 12 matches across all competitions since January, Vieira finally paid the price by being sacked.
