David Luiz approached by Demirspor, will join Balotelli
7/29/2021, 17:41LONDON - Former Arsenal defender David Luiz is reportedly set to follow Mario Balotelli by joining Turkish side Adana Demirspor. Luiz is a free transfer after his contract with Arsenal expired at the end of last season. Since there is no club interested in the former Chelsea defender, Demirspor, who has just been promoted to the Turkish Super League, hopes to reach an agreement with Luiz.
Demirspor have signed Balotelli and Younes Belhanda this summer. Demirspor immediately stepped on the gas, after a 26-year absence in the highest caste of Turkish football.
Club president Murat Sancak is determined to strengthen the starting XI to survive in the top caste competition. He has completed signing contracts with Balotelli, Belhanda and Britt Assombalonga for the 2021/2022 season. Now Sancak is trying to announce the arrival of Luiz plus three to four more players.
"Discussions with David Luiz are still ongoing. I hope we can reach an agreement soon. When salaries are very high, someone wants to negotiate a bit. We are ready for the new season and I assure the fans to be prepared too," said Sancak.
