SURABAYA -- Persebaya won their first league win in the 2022/2023 season after beating Persita Tangerang with a score of 2-0 at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya, Monday (1/8) night.

Sho Yamamoto and Rizky Ridho scored two goals for Persebaya in the 23rd and 57th minutes, respectively.

As the match progressed, the host's first chance was obtained through Silvio Junior's 7th minute flick using Higor Vidal's long-range shot, but it was still thin on the right of the Persita goal post which was guarded by Dhika Bhayangkara.

The visitors a minute later gasped and immediately created a chance through Fergunzi's kick in the penalty box, but his shot was still weak and was saved by Persebaya goalkeeper Satria Tama.

The Green Force's opening goal was scored by Sho Yamamoto using Silvio Junior's cross after playing one or two with Brylian Aldama.

In the 33rd minute, Persebaya's counter-attack forced Persita defender Agustin Cattaneo to bring down Arief Catur Pamungkas, who was only dealing with the goalkeeper.

Referee Darma Santoso without hesitation issued a red card for judging Cattaneo as the last person to violate.

Despite playing 10 players, Persita continued to try to equalize, even the best chance was obtained by Elisa Basna in the 40th minute, but a shot along the ground from outside the penalty box still hit the goalpost of Satria Tama.

Persita coach Alfredo Vera rotated by pulling out Aburizal Maulana and Elisa Basna a minute before the end of the first half by entering Paulo Sitanggang and Muhammad Rifqi.

In the second half, Persita again rotated its players by entering Fahreza Sudin to replace Wildan Ramdhani Nugraha.

Persebaya coach Aji Santoso also refreshed his midfield position by pulling out Brylian Aldama and playing Risky Dwiyan.

Not even five minutes later, Persebaya got two golden opportunities in a row, the first through a header from Sho Yamamoto and a hard kick from a new player, Risky Dwiyan.

In the 57th minute, the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium rumbled again after Rizky Ridho managed to rip Persita's net through his header using Higor Vidal's corner kick.

In the 64th minute, Supriyadi had to be pulled out after experiencing a problem with his leg and was replaced by Ahmad Nufiandani.

67 minutes back Sho Yamamoto grabbed his best chance through individual action, but his hard kick hit the crossbar.

In the last ten minutes, Aji Santoso brought in two of his young players, Deny Agus and Julian Mancini to replace Higor Vidal and Silvio Junior.

Persita was not without opportunities in the second half, many times its foreign striker, Fergonzi, tried to reduce the position, but Persebaya's defense raised by Rizky Ridho and Riswan Lauhim failed to penetrate.

Until the referee blew the long whistle, the score of 2-0 remained unchanged and made "Bajul Ijo" boost its position to fifth in the standings with three points.
