Disappointed with the results, Persib Bandung coach says the team has potential

Persib who left first kept trying to get up.

BANDUNG -- Persib Bandung failed to steal full points over Bhayangkara FC at the Wibawa Mukti Stadium, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Sunday (24/7/2022). The final score of 2-2 forced both teams to share points that night.

Persib coach, Robert Rene Alberts, highlighted the team's game. According to him, Persib who were left behind first kept trying to get up.

"This is our first match against Bhayangkara FC. I think we fell behind and tried to get back up to make it 1-1," said Robert after the game.

Robert admits that he has memorized the playing style of Bhayangkara FC. For that, he applied anticipation to the team even though there were some changes that occurred.

"We already know Bhayangkara's style of play because we have met them before and they are a good team, filled with good players, and also coached by a good coach," said Robert. "In the second half we made changes in the team. In the first half we had to make changes because of Beckham's injury and in the second half started the game by adding strength to the midfield."

The Dutch coach also appreciated Frets Butuan's goal early in the second half. Unfortunately, Persib failed to maintain their lead after withdrawing several of their players due to injury.

"We can't make substitutions for tactical reasons. So a lot of pressure from Bhayangkara but we are also dangerous on the counter-attack," explained Robert.

Robert said Sani Rizki's goal in the 81st minute should not have happened because it was the player's fault. But in terms of the game, Robert is aware of the great potential of the team for the future.

"So for the first game, we have potential and of course disappointed not to get the three points," said Robert.
