2021-03-18 10:35MANCHESTER - Manchester City appeared dominant when they hosted Southampton in the English League continued match at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday (11/3) early morning Western Indonesian Time. The Citizens closed the first half with a 3-1 lead over the Saints .
Southampto could match City at the start of the match. Several times the Saints were able to trouble the City defense through Mohammed Salisu, Moussa Djenepo and James Ward-Prowse.
Pep Guardiola's squad were finally able to steal the lead in the 15th minute. Kevin De Bruyne successfully took advantage of the rebound ball from Phil Foden's shot. De Bruyne, who was in the box, did his job with a quick shot that shot into the roof inside the net.
Conceding one goal did not necessarily make Southampton give up. Ederson must work hard to secure the golden opportunity obtained by Vestergaard and Redmond.
Excellence City turned out to only last three minutes. Ward-Prowse successfully fulfilled his job from the spot after a foul by Aymeric Laporte.
Ahead of the 30th minute, the opportunities created by Zinchenko and Fernandinho still did not produce maximum results. Right in the 30th minute, Foden fell on a collision in the penalty box, but the referee did not point to the spot.
Ward-Prowse again threatened the home team in the 33rd minute. Luckily his shot from outside the penalty box was countered by Ederson. Two minutes later, another shot from Ward-Prowse's feet missed the roof of the goal.
After being attacked many times, City was able to fight back. In one strike, the score turned for City's advantage in the 40th minute. This time Riyad Mahrez took advantage of Southampton's mistake. Mahrez did not waste wild balls that were obtained in the penalty box.
In the 43rd minute, the visitors were still eager to attack, this time by Che Adams who was caught offside . Ahead of the match ended, Manchester City increased the advantage to 3-1. An additional goal for City at the end of the match was scored by Gundongan, after taking advantage of the bouncing ball from Mahrez's kick.
