Dramatic, Hugo's two goals make Atletico Madrid fail to win
11/8/2021, 19:13 VALENCIA - Atletico Madrid failed to get the three points when two goals from Valencia in injury time made the match end 3-3 in the match week 13 of the Spanish League at the Mestalla, Monday (8/11) early morning WIB.
Atlético's three goals were scored by Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and Sime Vrsaljko, while Stefan Savic's Valencia goal (an own goal) and Hugo Duro's two goals came in injury time.
This result keeps Atletico in 4th place in the La Liga standings with 23 points, while Valencia sits in 10th position with 17 points.
Atletico had their first chance in the 14th minute through Antoine Griezmann, but the France striker's shot deviated from the target.
One minute later Angel Correa's long-range strike was saved by Valencia goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen. In the 28th minute, Valencia threatened with Goncalo Guedes' long-range shot, but Atletico goalkeeper Jan Oblak kept the net safe.
Atletico finally broke the deadlock in the 35th minute. Luis Suarez managed to dribble past Mouctar Diakhaby to enter the penalty box and release a shot that entered the Valencia goal. The 1-0 score lasted until the break.
In the second half, Atletico almost doubled their lead in the 47th minute, but Griezmann's header missed the mark. Valencia actually equalized in the 50th minute.
Having a chance in the penalty box, Guedes who is on the right fired a shot to the left of the goal, but the ball turned into Oblak's goal after being blocked by Stefan Savic so the position changed to 1-1.
Eight minutes later, Atletico took the lead again on the counter-attack, Griezmann dribbled from his own area of play to in front of the Valencia penalty box.
Griezmann then fired a hard shot that nestled heavily in the left corner of Cillessen's goal. The visitors took a 2-1 lead. Two minutes later, Atletico took the lead thanks to Sime Vrsaljko's tap-in goal after taking advantage of the chaos in front of Cillessen's goal. The position is 3-1.
Despite being two goals behind, Valencia persistently tried to reply by attacking more intensively. Their efforts were not in vain after scoring two goals in injury time.
In the 91st minute, Jose Gaya's cross from the left was completed by Hugo Duro with an accurate shot that hit the right side of Oblak's goal making the score 3-2. Valencia dramatically equalized in the 96th minute.
Duro scored again after his header that used a corner could not be stopped Oblak. The score was changed to 3-3 until the game ended.
