JAKARTA -- Arema FCE coach Duardo Almeida stated that organized play was the key behind his squad's success in holding PSM Makassar to a 1-1 draw in the Indonesian Liga 1 match at Pakansari Stadium, Bogor on Sunday (5/9). In fact, Arema had to compete with 10 people since the fourth minute.

"The players performed very well, were very organised. They worked hard throughout the game," Eduardo said in a virtual press conference after the match, which took place in Jakarta, Sunday.

The Portuguese tactician was satisfied with the performance of his foster children who were disciplined and defended well from PSM attacks. According to Eduardo, his players were able to get out of a difficult situation after Jayus Hariono was sent off for violating PSM midfielder Sutanto Tan.

Singo Edan's squad even scored first and created dangerous chances even though they did not bring in an additional goal. "The red card made the difference. We were not free to control the ball. This game was difficult. However, even so, we were able to create some chances. Congratulations to the players," explained Eduardo.

Midfielder Hanif Sjahbandi, who scored Arema's goal in that match, was also proud of the struggles of his colleagues. The Arema squad managed to execute the strategy well and were able to finish the match with one point.

"We worked hand in hand to carry out the coach's instructions. We fought as a team. It was very difficult to compete with 10 players, but we got through it. I am proud of the team's performance," said Hanif.
