English Football Association (FA) will not take action over Arsenal Gabriel

Sky Sports, citing an official statement from the English Football Association (FA), reported on Wednesday that authorities would not take any action against Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson after he was accused of racially discriminating against Arsenal defender Gabriel.

According to the FA's official statement, the authorities launched an independent investigation into the matter, and the findings showed that at the time of the incident, none of the six players closest to the two on the field heard Henderson's saying such racially abusive statement at all. Likewise, through video playback reviews, and the help of liguistic experts, they still could not find any evidence of there being any racially abusive statement at all. The only thing that can be understood is that Gabriel himself had a problem with what Henderson said because of the language barrier and had misunderstood what had been said.

The statement also added that since what Henderson said at the time was in good faith, and this controversy was caused by a misunderstanding due to language communication and understanding issues, the FA will not take any action for this matter.

On Sunday, October 9, 2022, in matchday 10 of the Premier League, Arsenal played against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

In injury time, after Van Dijk successfully made a clearance and Arsenal got a corner kick, players from both sides surrounded referee Michael Oliver and had some disputes, among which Henderson had a heated dispute withGabriel. Fortunately, Oliver later successfully separated the two to not worsening the situation.

It is worth mentioning that Gabriel has also attracted criticism from many people recently for delibrately trying to be in the spotlight at all times. Not long ago, after Arsenal beat Brentford in the Premier League, the Brazil international was deliberately tweeted "had a nice kickaround with the guys" to make fun of the opponent's loss and particularly to poke fun at the opponent's England international forward Ivan Toney.

Gabriel's antics were even criticized by Arsenal's legendary Scottish forward and manager, George Graham in the latter's column.
