Everton beat Chelsea, Lampard: There is still a long way to get out of the relegation zone
5/13/2022, 12:12MERSEYSIDE -- Everton manager Frank Lampard stressed that his team still had a long way to go to avoid relegation from the English Premier League, even though his team won 1-0 at Chelsea. Everton won thanks to Richarlison's fourth goal in five games, as well as a fine performance from goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
This victory is very significant to help the Toffees in keeping hope out of the relegation zone. Everton have picked up 10 points from their last 12 games at home, and cut the gap between Burnley and Leeds to just two points. However, the Merseyside club have a game in hand and have the better goal difference.
But Lampard remains cautious. Because no one knows what will happen to the standings ahead of crucial times in the English Premier League. Because the former Chelsea coach doesn't know whether Everton will win every remaining game or not.
"If it was Liverpool and Manchester City, you would think they won every game. But do we think Burnley win every game? Right now maybe yes! Do we think Leeds won? Every game?" said Lampard, quoted from Skysports , Monday (2/5).
He said he could not control everything, such as determining the result of Burnley or Leeds. According to Lampard, he and his players can only control themselves. That's why he asked with five games remaining, can get enough points to get out of the relegation zone.
"My feeling is that there is still a long way to go," he said.
