Expose Barcelona in arrears! The fee for last year's Manchester City striker Torres' move to Barcelona has not yet been repaid
2022-10-01 15:05"The Sun" broke the news, according to the financial report released by La Liga Barcelona today, Barcelona has not fully paid the 48.4 million pounds transfer fee for the 22-year-old striker Ferran Torres' official transfer from Manchester City to Barcelona in January this year.
Barcelona, which is in deep financial crisis, still introduced Torres from the Premier League Manchester City in January this year. Now the young striker has played 33 games for Barcelona, contributing 8 goals and 7 assists.
According to the CCMA, Torres' £48.4m transfer fee has so far only paid in instalments of around £2.6m.
In addition, the transfer fee owed to Torres is only the tip of the iceberg. It is reported that Barcelona also owed £12 million for the introduction of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool in 2018 and the £28 million purchase of Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong from Ajax in 2019. The fee and the £31m-plus fee for a 2020 move from Serie A Juventus' Miralem Pjanic to Barcelona.
Barcelona also spent a lot of money in the transfer window this summer to introduce gold medal striker Robert Lewandowski, 25-year-old midfielder Frank Casey, 23-year-old French defender Jule Conde and striker Rafael Dia S. Belloli and other 7 heavyweight players.
Although Barcelona has not evaded any instalments at present, it can be seen that Barcelona's debt is accumulating rapidly, which means that Barcelona is gradually facing a serious financial burden.
If Barcelona fails to repay the debt within the deadline, the ultimate potential consequence is that the club is banned from any transfer agreement. The immediate priority for the club is likely to be financial stability, and further player sales are expected to effectively balance the payroll.
