Chelsea have received a boost from goalkeeper Eduardo Mendy and midfielder N'Golo Kante returning to training after recovering from injuries, manager Graham Porter said on Tuesday. Mendy has not played for the past month due to a knee injury, but could be available for Wednesday 's Champions League Group E tie at home to AC Milan, while Kante, who has been sidelined with a thigh problem since August, is set to return. Porter said he was delighted that Mendy was back and battling Kepa Arrizabalaga for a goalscoring spot as they have a tight schedule and Chelsea will play 12 games before the mid-season break at the World Cup next month.

Porter told reporters that Edu has been training with the team for the past few days, so he will be in the team , which is good news for everyone because they need more competition. 2021 European champions Chelsea are four points behind leaders Milan, Dinamo Zagreb three and Salzburg two, one point behind the bottom of the group. The Londoners will be ready to face their former player Olivier Giroud, who leads Italian champions Milan's scoring charts with four league goals this season.

Kanter's future

Kante's future is a concern for Chelsea as the midfielder's contract expires at the end of the season , and Kante spoke to other clubs in January, but it didn't make a big difference for Porter . "The other thing is between the club and him. My focus is to help him adapt and enjoy his football. There aren't many players like Wu Jingui in world football, so the sooner he gets back to us the better. ...that's where my focus is ." Potter told reporters.

Porter's current focus is on helping him rehab in a good way so that he can return to the team . When he's on the court, he's an advantage for Porter and the team.
