Football News - Gobert Song: Cameroon not under unfair pressure because of Eto'o

Cameroon coach Rigobert Song played down suggestions his side were being unfairly pressured by former star Samuel Eto'o , who predicted an all-time clash between his country and Morocco ahead of the game . Africa World Cup final.

Song, whose side face Serbia in Group G on Monday, denied there was a rift with former Inter Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea striker Eto'o and said the expectations set by his bold prediction were not Cameroon's 1-0 loss to Switzerland in the opener reason.

The indomitable Lions have not won a World Cup group stage since beating Saudi Arabia in 2002, when Eto'o, then president of the Cameroon FA, was the last player to score the winning goal for his country .

"The president of the federation is passionate about football. He is a footballer himself, he lives, breathes and dreams about football, but he will not put any burden or pressure on our shoulders, " Song told reporters on Sunday.

" That's not why my player didn't score against Switzerland. I would say sometimes he even wants to play in the shirt because he wants to give everything. "

Race to the last 16

Third-placed Cameroon and bottom-placed Serbia - who lost 2-0 to pre-tournament favorites Brazil - will go into Monday's clash knowing another defeat will see them scramble for a place in the last 16 .

With Cameroon facing Brazil in their final group game, Song backed his players to come forward against Serbia and win.

" We know exactly what awaits us, " Song said. " It will be a decisive game and we are well prepared. We know what we have to do and we have the right mentality. "
