Guardiola confirms Bernardo stays at Manchester City, has no intention of moving to Barcelona

Bernardo Silva is still a Manchester City player. On August 18, local time, Guardiola confirmed to Catalan Radio (CCMA) that Bernardo will stay with the Premier League giants and has no intention of moving to Barcelona.

"Wednesday you'll see him play, won't you!" Guardiola put an end to speculation over Bernardo's future with a stern tone. "And for sure, he will play with us, with Manchester City!"

Guardiola's remarks were undoubtedly a response to the Catalan media, who have been spreading rumors of Bernardo joining Barcelona for months. And a day before Guardiola refuted the rumours, The Athletic UK also reported that Bernardo would prefer to stay at Manchester City - the Portuguese has given up any idea of leaving this season, unless circumstances change.

Although there was news that Bernardo was interested in joining Barcelona , TA understands that the Portuguese's position has softened in the past few days. On the one hand, Manchester City's valuation of Bernardo's 100 million euros is firm, and they have no intention of letting the player leave. Barca, on the other hand, have yet to submit an offer for the Portuguese, although they have been claiming interest in signing Bernardo from Manchester City.

According to a report by Spanish Radio 6 reporter Jose Alvarez, Manchester City is negotiating with Bernardo for a contract extension and has expressed a willingness to give players a salary increase. Bernardo's contract with Manchester City expires in June 2025 on a weekly salary of £140,000.
