JAKARTA - Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic will miss the FA Cup semi-final match against Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday (17/4) due to a hamstring injury. Kovacic did not play in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday (13/4), which ended in a 0-1 defeat by FC Porto.

Chelsea still reached the last four with a 2-1 aggregate win and will face Real Madrid or Liverpool.

"(On Monday) in practice, he suffered a muscle injury in his hamstring after 20 minutes," said Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel after Tuesday's game, as quoted by Reuters. "He will definitely miss the game against City, this is a big loss."

Tuchel fielded N'Golo Kante as a starter in Kovacic's absence, and the France international has come into full play after returning from a hamstring problem.

" N'Golo is amazing," explained Tuchel. "We took a little risk with N'Golo, but this is the moment to put him on the pitch and hope he has the energy for 90 minutes. He won so many balls and gave everyone confidence. He did it perfectly and now is the time to recover perfectly."
