Hansi Flick Hati-Hati Bahas Pengganti Joachim Loew

Germany national team director Oliver Bierhoff said it was impossible to rule out Flick.

JAKARTA - Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick has dismissed speculation that he will become the next coach of the German national team. He's trying to avoid talking about replacing Joachim Loew this summer.

After 15 years in charge of the German national team, Loew, now 61, said Tuesday (9/3) this week that he will resign from the post of coach of the German national team after the European Cup in July.

Flick, 56, was Loew's assistant coach when both of them helped Germany win the 2014 World Cup. Unlike Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp who openly refused to replace Loew, Flick was more ambitious about the possibility of coaching Germany.

"I have a contract until 2023 and I want to continue working successfully at Bayern Munich and winning titles," said Flick ahead of the match against Werder Bremen, Saturday (14/3). "The others are still speculating, I don't want to get involved."

Flick was initially only the interim coach of Munich in November 2019 after Nico Kovac was fired. But his luck changed after successfully bringing Die Roten to win the Champions League during his first coaching period which was also marked by a treble last season.

For now, Flick wants 100 percent concentration on Bayern Munich. "There is no time to speculate about my future."

The German Football Association (DFB) has said it will not rush to find a replacement for Loew. You don't want to talk about replacing Loew, it's not without reason that Germany is eyeing Flick.

Even the director of the German national team, Oliver Bierhoff, said it was impossible to rule out Flick as a candidate for the national team head coach. "Do I think he can carry it? Of course," said Bierhoff as quoted by AFP.

However, Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said he would not let Flick go. "We don't want to solve the DFB problem for them," said Rummenigge last month.

But behind the scenes, Munich has quietly approached RB Leipzig coach Julian Nagelsmann as a possible replacement for Flick. Munich at the top of the Bundesliga standings two points above second place RB Leipzig.

Nagelsmann, who is still 32 years old and under contract until 2023, is also being targeted by Barcelona since Barca were eliminated from the Champions League two days ago. "I know what the football business looks like," said Nagelsmann. "But it's rude to discuss this topic."
