Healing Player Disappointment, Borneo FC Gives Holidays

JAKARTA -- The management of Borneo FC has decided to give its players a break for some time so that they can gather with their families living in East Kalimantan, while forgetting the disappointment of the postponement of the Liga 1 competition. Borneo FC Team Manager Farid Abubakar, quoted from the club's official website, Monday (5/7), admitted that the management also gave an injection of motivation so that the players were not too disappointed and gave the players a day off.
"So, players from Samarinda or East Kalimantan can go home to meet their families. For players outside East Kalimantan, at least they can forget for a moment about football and postponed competitions by relaxing," said Farid.
However, he said, relaxing here doesn't mean you don't practice at all. The player's training routine continues, but the portion is reduced.
For players from outside East Kalimantan, it is certain that they will not leave Samarinda, especially those from Java. In addition to the pandemic being at its peak in Java, holidays are also given for a short period of time, including players being closed from Friday (2/7) to Tuesday (6/7). According to Farid, the holiday was given short because it was only to increase the players' confidence after the competition was postponed.
The postponement of the competition, he admits, will certainly have an impact on the psychological side of the players in League 1. Including the Borneo FC players who also feel disappointed because they have prepared themselves in advance.
On the other hand, he said, there may be teams that benefit from the postponement because they have longer preparation time. Farid hopes that the competition can actually be run by the end of July. Because from the latest information received by Borneo FC, the delay did not last more than a month.
"And what is certain is that we all hope that this pandemic in Indonesia will quickly subside and disappear. Because so many have been affected, including in football," he said.
