Inter Milan shaves Genoa four goals without reply
8/22/2021, 13:39 MILAN -- Inter Milan managed to secure a big 4-0 win from their guest Genoa in the first week of the Serie ALiga Italia2021/2022 match which took place at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Sunday (22/8) early morning WIB. The Nerazzurri won convincingly with goals from Milan Skriniar in the sixth minute, Hakan Calhanoglu in the 14th minute, Arturo Vidal in the 74th minute and Edin Dzeko in the 87th minute.
Practically this victory also marked the sweet debut of coach Simone Inzaghi and the new Inter players who had just been brought in in the summer transfer window. This result also makes Inter temporarily in first place in the Italian Serie A standings with three points, the same as Sassuolo's.
Since the beginning of the match, Inter did appear to dominate the match. The Nerazzurri lead possession with 64 per cent. Meanwhile, in terms of opportunities, the team from the Italian fashion city has 17 opportunities, eight of which are on target.
La Beneamata's opening goal came through Skriniar's header utilizing Hakan Calhanoglu's corner. Eight minutes later it was Calhanoglu's turn to write his name on the scoreboard after breaking into Genoa's goal, Sirigu, in the 14th minute.
After receiving Edin Dzeko's short pass, Calhanoglu slightly pushed the ball forward. The Turkey midfielder then fired into the bottom left corner forcing Sirigu to pick the ball up from the net for the second time.
Genoa could have scored a reply in the 45th minute through Yayah Kallon. However, Kallon who lived to face goalkeeper Samir Handanovic failed to take advantage of this golden opportunity. After receiving a breakthrough bait, Kallon's left foot shot was still off the left of Handanovic's goal.
Ivan Perisic had scored a goal. Unfortunately, the goal in the minutes of injury time was disallowed by the referee after seeing VAR because Perisic was in an offside position first. Calhanoglu broke into Sirigu's goal again in the 55th minute. However, the goal was again disallowed after Perisic who was the feeder was caught offside.
Arturo Vidal who played in the second half added the score for Inter in the 74th minute after receiving an assist from Nicolo Barella. Barella's heel pass was well completed by Vidal by placing the ball in the bottom left corner.
Not wanting to be left behind, new Inter striker Edin Dzeko scored the blue-black team's first goal in the 88th minute.
Vidal's turn to be feeder for Dzeko. Vidal's cross was cleared into a goal by the former AS Roma striker with a header. Without additional goals in the remaining matches, Inter also won 4-0 over Genoa.
