Inzaghi asks Inter Milan to be aware of Liverpool's threat
12/27/2021, 18:07MILAN -- Inter Milan tactician Simone Inzaghi admits, Liverpool is one of the top teams that his team hopes to avoid in the last 16 of the 2021/2022 Champions League.
Inter qualified for the knock-out phase of the Champions League accompanying Real Madrid as the leader of Group D. As a result, the Nerazzurri officially met with the rulers of Group B Liverpool.
Inzaghi also noted that his team was very wary of the threat the Anfield Gank could pose to his team.
"We know what awaits us, Liverpool are at the top of the list of clubs that I hope we can avoid in the draw," said Simone Inzaghi, quoted by Sportskeeda , Friday (24/12).
Inzaghi thinks his team must be in the best condition when they meet the Reds in the two legs of the last 16 of the Champions League this season.
The Merseyside club scored 17 goals and conceded just six goals in their six group games in the Champions League. They are currently second in the Premier League table, three points behind leaders Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Inter lost some of their best players during the summer transfer window, including striker Romelu Lukaku and full-back Achraf Hakimi.
Even so, Simone Inzaghi's side have only lost one game in the Italian Serie A campaign this season.
Liverpool are clearly the favorites to win the Champions League because of the strength of the team in depth.
Liverpool's further strength in depth will help them rotate the squad over the next few months, thus allowing them to rest key players in preparation for the Champions League knockout stages.
"We want to reach that date in the best possible condition, but first we have some very intense weeks in the near future. January and February," continued Inzaghi.
