Jules Kunde chooses to join Barca over Chelsea
6/23/2022, 08:03BARCELONA -- Chelsea shopping target Jules Kunde is reportedly eyeing a summer move to Barcelona from Sevilla.
The France international has emerged as one of Europe's brightest defensive prospects having been a regular for Palanganas Julen Lopetegui since arriving from Bordeaux in 2019.
Kounde won the 2019/2020 Europa League with Sevilla and has made 133 appearances for the club across all tournaments, scoring nine goals and providing three assists.
Last season Kunde scored three goals and provided an assist in 44 games to help Sevilla maintain their title challenge in La Liga, where he has remained after Chelsea's failed bid to sign him last summer.
Following the successful takeover of Todd Boehly, Chelsea are expected to revive their interest in Kounde, whose contract with Los Rojiblancos is set to expire in two years' time.
However, it is claimed that Chelsea can bite the finger because Mundo Deportivo is quoted by Sportsmole, Tuesday (21/6) Kunde is more interested in joining Barcelona this summer.
The report claims Sevilla will not stand in the way of Kunde's departure if the right offer arrives, but Barcelona can still hope Sevilla can lower the price of 65 million euros.
Meanwhile, Barcelona are claimed to be able to include at least one player in the swap deal.
Barcelona are already set to strengthen their defensive line with the arrival of Andreas Christensen from Chelsea, but Sergino Dest and Clement Lenglet have both been linked with exits.
Christensen will officially leave Chelsea on a free transfer at the end of the month alongside Antonio Rudiger, who has signed a four-year contract at Real Madrid.
On the other hand, Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta are both reportedly on the Blaugrana's radar, with the Spanish duo's contracts running out at Stamford Bridge in 12 months' time.
Alonso has expressed his desire to play in La Liga, but Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is understood to want Azpilicueta to stay at the club that has two Champions League titles.
