Kean Excited After Helping Italy Beat Lithuania 5-0
9/11/2021, 02:07 REGGIO EMILIA -- Italy has finally returned to winning ways in the 2022 World Cup qualifying Group C European Zone. The Gli Azzurri fleet beat Lithuania, 5-0, at the Mapei Stadium, Reggio Emilia, Thursday (9/9) early morning WIB.
Moise Kean became a star at the Sassuolo headquarters. He made a brace against the visitors' goal.
"For me, it's important to put on this shirt again, and give 100 per cent on the pitch. It's always a great emotion," said the 21-year-old footballer, quoted from uefa.com.
Kean was called up in preparation for Euro 2020. However, at the last minute, coach Roberto Mancini dropped him.
His comrades became champions. Now the Juventus striker is back in defense of Gli Azzurri.
He did not waste the opportunity in front of his eyes. Kean wants to be consistent at this level. "I work every day to improve. I'm back with a new target. Now, I'm always ready to help my team-mates," he said.
Last season, he was on loan at Paris Saint-Germain. According to Kean, that was the turning point of his revival.
He shares a dressing room and trains with the best players. Such facts help to increase his quality and confidence.
The result at Mapei Stadium makes Italy firmly at the top of Group C. With 14 points, Gli Azzurri are six points ahead of Switzerland in second place.
In this match, Mancini made a big change in his team's starting XI. The allenatore's decision still made the blue troops victorious.
"We lost a lot of players between yesterday and the day before, but the people who played tonight responded well. It's not easy to score five goals," said Mancio praising the performance of Kean and his team-mates.
