Lazio to extend Marusic's contract soon
7/9/2021, 21:41 ROME - Lazio are reportedly preparing to offer a contract extension to right-back from Montenegro, Adam Marusic.
The 28-year-old right-back will receive a four-year contract extension offer from the management of I Biancocelesti. Currently, Marusic's contract with Lazio will expire in June 2022 or as the competition finishes next season.
However, Lazio hopes to keep the right winger of the Montenegro national team by offering a new contract. In fact, Lazio are ready to increase Marusic's salary to reach 1.5 million euros per season.
"Lazio are preparing a new contract for Marusic with a contract duration of up to four years, complete with a possible salary increase."
"It is hoped that the agreement to extend Marusic's contract can be officially announced by Lazio in the coming days," Radiosei reported as reported by Italian Football, Thursday (8/7).
Marusic was recruited by Lazio from a Belgian club, Oostende, at the start of the 2017/2018 season. Since then, Marusic regularly fills the right side of the club's game from the Italian capital.
In his debut season, Marusic made 32 appearances on the Serie A stage. Even when he appeared in 26 matches in the Serie A scene the following season. Although only able to deliver Lazio to finish in eighth place in Serie A, Marusic successfully presented the Coppa Italia title in the 2018/2019 season.
Unfortunately, a series of injuries made Marusic only appear in 15 matches in all competitions in the 2019/2020 season. After being free from injury, Marusic was again the main choice on Lazio's right wing last season.
Marusic only missed two games on the Serie A stage last season. Simone Inzaghi's departure from the Lazio coach is unlikely to affect Marusic's position in the Lazio first team.
The new Lazio coach, Maurizio Sarri, is reportedly ready to give the main position on Lazio's right wing next season to Marusic.
