In the 10th round of the Ligue 1 in the 2022/23 season, Marseille lost 1-2 at home to Ajaccio.

In the first half, Payet scored a penalty, and Moussiti-Oko tied the score with a long shot. In the second half, Balerdi's own goal changed the game, causing Marseille to lose for the first time in Ligue 1.

At the end of the game, Marseille still ranked second with 7 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss with 23 points, 3 points behind the leader Paris Saint-Germain. Ajaccio is 18th in the standings.

first half

Only a quarter of an hour after the opening, Marseille took a penalty kick to win the game: Sanchez stopped the ball and caused Avinel to handball, Payet then took the penalty. However, Moussiti-Oko scored from outside the box in the 25th minute to get Ajaccio back.

In the next 20 minutes, neither Marseille nor Ajaccio achieved anything, and the two sides finally maintained their lead into the second half.

second half

At the beginning of the second half, Ajaccio unexpectedly exceeded the score, breaking the stalemate that lasted for 20 minutes: Kone passed the ball into the penalty area from the left, but Balerdi intended to block it but sent it into his own goal, 2-1.

Since then, Marseille has launched a series of offensives on Ajaccio, but there is no threat to the visiting team that recovers the defense. Their only chance came in the 55th minute, when Omar Gonzalez kicked Payet's cross from the right into his own goal, almost scoring the same own goal as Marseille.
