ROME - The coach of the Lithuanian national team, Valdas Ivanauskas, was unable to accompany his team during the clash against the Italian national team in the continuation of the Group C phase of the 2022 World Cup Qualification, which took place at the Citta del Tricolore Stadium, Thursday (9/9) early morning WIB.
Ivanauskas' role was replaced by assistant coach Tomas Razanauskas and he still believes his team is firmly looking for a positive result in the match at the Pasta Country team headquarters.
"We always want to get a positive result in every game, be it against Bulgaria, Northern Ireland or Italy," he explained, quoted by Football Italia, Wednesday (8/9).
Coach Ivanauskas has tested positive for Covid-19 and needs to self-quarantine. Practically the tough task will turn to Timas Razanuskas when he faces the European Cup champions, Italy.
Lithuania itself is in a bad situation ahead of the match by undergoing the 2022 PD campaign without a single win, four defeats.
The situation is in contrast to Gli Azzurri who have never been touched by defeat. In fact, Italy is claimed to be able to easily beat its guests.
"It will be difficult, but each of us must find without ourselves the strength to give our best against Italy."
Roberto Mancini's fleet has actually not won in two PD 2022 Group C Qualifying matches. They swallowed a draw against Switzerland and Bulgaria. Of course, Marco Verratti and his friends are looking for victory when they host their opponents.
For the time being, Italy is ranked first in Group C standings with 11 points from three wins and two draws. While in second position is occupied by Switzerland who collects the number seven followed by Bulgaria in the fifth seat.
