Live; Atletico lead 2-0 over Barca in the first half
10/4/2021, 03:43MADRID - Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez was reluctant to celebrate when he scored a goal against Barcelona, Sunday (3/10) early morning WIB. Atletico Madrid are currently 2-0 up thanks to Suarez and Thomas Lemar.
Home tuna Atletico welcome Barcelona with a 3-4-1-2 offensive formation by pairing Luis Suarez and Joao Felix up front. Los Rojiblancos coach, Diego Simeone stacked two attacking midfielders at once plus two left and right wings to distribute the ball.
The strategy proved effective when Atletico threatened the Blaugrana's goal several times thanks to the roles of Thomas Lemar and Joao Felix. Their efforts bore fruit when Lemar opened the scoring for the hosts.
Meanwhile, Barcelona, who set up a 4-2-3-1 pattern, looked inferior by relying on Memphis Depay as the sole attacker. They tend to rely more on the role of Philippe Coutinho and Frenkie De Jong to suppress Atletico's defense.
It was not the reply that was scored, but it was Atletico who doubled the advantage. Thanks to Thomas Lemar's assist, Suarez managed to take advantage of the opportunity with his measured kick in the 44th minute. The 2-0 score complemented Atletico's victory in the first half.
Interestingly, Suarez did not show the usual euphoria. Because, the goal he broke is a team that also made his name as a footballer.
The Uruguayan striker just raised his hand to apologize to the Barcelona fans who were present at the Wanda metropolitano stadium.
