TORONTO -- The puzzle of Lorenzo Insigne's future with Napoli has been answered. Recent reports say the player has reached an agreement to join Major Super League (MLS) side Toronto FC.

Insigne's fate at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium has indeed become a byword. The captain often refuses contract extension offers submitted by Napoli management. The reason is partly because the management of I Partenopei submitted a contract proposal worth 3.5 million euros per year, which cut his current salary by 5 million euros per year.

Apart from the salary issue, now Sky Sport Italia on Tuesday (4/1/2022) claimed that Lorenzo Insigne had reached an agreement with the MLSToronto FC club. The announcement of the deal will be broadcast early next week.

The 30-year-old winger will end the season at Napoli before joining Toronto FC in June 2022. The player will reportedly sign a contract for 11.5 million euros per year with the Canadian club with an additional 4.5 million euros in bonuses.

Contrary to what has been reported over the last few weeks, the figure is after-tax so Insigne will earn nearly 80 million euros net in five years.

Insigne is an academy product from southern Italian side Napoli and has spent almost his entire career at the club, scoring 114 goals in 415 games.
