Marseille give up activating clause to buyout the ownership of on-loan Manchester United defender Eric Bailly..

Sky Sports' renowned Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, brought exclusive news on Tuesday that Marseille would have given up activating the clause to buyout the ownership of Manchester United's Ivory Coast international center-back Eric Bailly who is currently on-loan at the club.

According to Romano's report, the buyout clause set by Marseille and Manchester United was set at €7 million, but the premise is that the clause will be atuomatically activated if Marseille advanced to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 Knockout Stage this season. However since Marseille have failed to even make it out of the Group Stage and was eliminated, hence Bailly's buyout clause has been technically invalidated.

Romano further stated that from the news he has received, Manchester United has no intention of keeping Bailly, so at the end of this season, after returning from loan, the Premier League giants will sell Bailly. Although many news have alleged that Sevilla is planning to sign the player, but as of now he still have not receive any definite news about this rumour.

Initially, Bailly’s outstanding performance earned him the always Player of the Month for every month, and he even scored his first goal in August 2017, but unfortunately he was unable to do so soon after. Injury prone and gradually replaced, Bailly has only been able to make 39 appearances in the past three seasons.

Despite this, Bailly still helped the Red Devils win 1 English League Cup, 1 English Community Shield and 1 Europa League title during this period, and was also selected into the of the International Football Statistics Agency (IHHS) as the Best African Players’ Squad of the Decade, and the Europa League Team of the Season in the 2016/17 season.
