BUENOS AIRES -- Javier Mascherano is one of the top-class footballers of the last two decades. Now he has hung up his shoes.

He enjoyed the glory of one of Barcelona's greatest eras. He has also appeared in four World Cups with the Argentine national team. These facts gave him the opportunity to appear in a number of important matches.
