Matteo Darmian completes contract extension with Inter Milan..

Inter Milan announced on the official website on Thursday that the club has completed the contract extension with the team's right wing-back Matteo Darmian.

According to the official statement of Inter Milan, Darmian has signed on a new one-year short-term contract with the club which will expire in the summer of 2024, with an option for a further year.

After completing his contract renewal procedures, Darmian, who was interviewed by Inter Milan's official website again said: "I am very happy to complete the contract renewal. This is a driving force for me to do better and work harder. I hope that I can keep it up and win more titles for the team.”

"I'm very proud to be part of the big family at this club, we've won four titles and I hope I can go on to win more and for that I'm going to do give everything for this club."

The 33-year-old Darmian was born in Legnano, Italy on December 2, 1989. He is 1.82 meters tall and primarily plays as a right-wing back, but he can also play as a left-wing back, central defender, right midfielder, left midfielder or defensive midfielder , his father, Giovanni, is the coach of the youth academy of the non-league club Carcor.

Darmian began to fall in love with football under the training of his father since he was a child. Later, he was introduced into AC Milan's youth academy in 2000 after being scouted by the club's current U19s head coach, former Italy international right-back Ignacio Abate's father, Beniamino who worked as a scout.

At the end of November 2006, Darmian, who was still 16 years old, had already completed his first-team debut, and then he was loaned out to Padova in the summer of 2009 to help the latter successfully avoid relegation.

In July 2010, Darmian joined Palermo for €800,000, and represented the club in the Europa League in October of the same year, ushering in his debut in European competition.

In July of the following year, Darmian played for Torino on a loan with an option to buy basis for two season, during which time he led the team to promotion to Serie A as a runner-up. In June 2013, Torino officially bought out Darmian's ownership for €2 million. Since then, his performances became better and better, and he began to attract the attention of many big clubs among the Big 5 major European leagues with his consistent world-class performances in the Europa League.

In July 2015, Darmian joined Manchester United for £12.7 million. He was a key player during the period when Louis van Gaal was the head coach and won 1 FA Cup, 1 English League Cup and 1 Europa League with the team. However, after José Mourinho took over as head coach, Darmian's opportunities to play were greatly reduced. It was not until Ole-Gunar Solskjær took office in the later period that Darmian regained the chance to play as a left-wing back.

In September 2019, Darmian returned to Serie A and moved to Parma for €1.5 million, helping the I Crociati to successfully avoid relegation. With his good performance, Darmian joined Inter Milan in October of the following year on a loan with a obligation to buy basis.

After joining I Nerazzurri, Darmian, who has repeatedly demonstrated his superb offensive and defensive capabilities, immediately led the team to win Serie A, leading his ownership to be officially bought out for €1.8 million euros in July 2021. Last season, he also led the team to win 1 Coppa Italia and 1 Supercoppa Italiana again.

During the first half of this season, Darmian played 22 times for Inter Milan in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and assisting 2 times. So far, he has won another Supercoppa Italiana with the team.
