PARIS -- Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker Kylian Mbappes had made up his mind to move to Real Madrid in this summer's transfer market. However, the plan was canceled because the club did not allow him to leave.

He still intends to leave in the transfer market mid next year. However, he said the management of Les Parisiens insisted he could not just leave.

"It was scary when the president of the club said he would not allow (me) to leave for free. When I heard that, I had a hard time accepting it and wondered what was happening here," Mbappe said as quoted by Marca , Tuesday (5/10) .

The 22-year-old is still the target of European giants. But so far, only Real Madrid have claimed they can afford Mbappe's high salary.

Although Mbappe has already shown interest in moving to Spanish La Liga, PSG moved quickly to keep the player from leaving before his contract expired.

"I had asked to leave because I didn't want to extend my contract. I wanted the club to charge a transfer fee in order to replace quality (players)," he said.

"This club (PSG) has given me a lot. I am always happy and still feel the same feelings. But I think the journey is enough. But if they want me here, I will stay," he added.
