Moyes wants West Ham to appear in European competitions
2/24/2021, 13:40LONDON - West Ham United coach David Moyes said his team would make a very big step forward if they could penetrate the European zone. Last season, the Hammers finished just five points above the relegation zone.
The statement was a motivation for his players ahead of entertaining the bottom team Sheffield United, Tuesday (16/2) in the morning WIB. Moyes hopes his squad will play nicely and win the match.
"If we can finish well, but it will be very, very difficult with a team that is challenging us and right below us. I think we are capable, but whether we can do it is something else," said Moyes as quoted by Sportsmole , Monday (15) / 2).
West Ham are in sixth place with a value of 39, losing on goal difference to Chelsea in fifth and one point adrift of Liverpool in fourth.
The former Everton and Manchester United coach wants West Ham to be involved in a battle with the world's top players. And there is no other way but to penetrate European competition. However, he could not confirm whether the target could be realized this year.
Even if they qualify, Moyes also doesn't know whether his troops are ready to face teams from various leagues in Europe. But what is certain is that if West Ham penetrates into European competition, Moyes insists it is an extraordinary achievement.
"But we don't know if we are still in the position we are in with only single digits remaining. Let's see if we can focus on one game at a time and see what we can do," he said.
