Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper charged by English Football Association for implying referee is bias against his side..

The Athletic reported on Tuesday, citing the English Football Association (FA), that Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has been disciplinarily charged by the authorities for making inappropriate remarks.

According to the FA's official statement, Cooper violated Regulation E3.1 of the FA's Disciplinary Code by making inappropriate remarks, and he was also suspected of implying the referee was bias against his side by favouring the opponents, questioning the integrity of the referee's decisions and tarnishing the Premier League's reputation. Cooper was also ordered to respond to the charges by Thursday, October 27.

It is reported that Cooper made these controversial comments during Nottingham Forest's game against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend.

Due to many controversial penalty decisions in the game, the club eventually lost the game due to the penalty awarded which was converted by Ruben Neves after a VAR video playback in the second half, and Cooper has hit out at referee Thomas Bramall over his dissatisfaction with the latter's impartiality of the refereeing decisions.

When interviewed after the game that day, Cooper couldn't help but insinuated Bramall with anger that: "We have known this referee very well since last season. We refereed our games when we were in the EFL Championship as well."

"We all know what you can get from him is different from what the others will get in normal situations. So we all know we're going to be dealt with (unreasonably) today."

It is worth mentioning that this is the fifth controversy over VAR refeering decisions in the Premier League in recent weeks. Earlier, Newcastle United, Brentford, Manchester City and Liverpool were also involved in many controversial VAR refeering decisions, during which the latter's head coach Jürgen Klopp was even punished for insulting the linesman due to his same dissatisfaction with the verdict. In addition, on Monday, there was a dispute between West Ham United against Bournemouth where a goal was still ruled valid even though there was a clear handball foul in the buildup by the VAR.
