Nuggets undrafted Grispe with a fractured calf, a truce for half a year

The Denver Nuggets officially announced today that 23-year-old undrafted Colin Grispe needs to undergo repair surgery for a fractured left calf. There is currently no exact timetable for his return.

Guard Grispe averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1 steal in his final season in college. He scored 1,858 points in 156 games and was selected to the All-American Third Team for 2 consecutive years. Won the Big East First Team and Player of the Year, plus he won the Bob Cousy Award this year, proving himself to be a top point guard.

After being undrafted in the league, the Nuggets decided a week later to sign Grispe to a two-way contract. The 23-year-old guard also played with the team in the Las Vegas Summer League, where he performed well, averaging 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals in four games. He scored in double figures three times and even posted a career-high 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists in four games.

Grispe unfortunately fractured his left calf during training last week. He underwent surgery yesterday in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is expected to be out for 5 to 6 months. As for the Nuggets, the guard has not yet made a return date.
