Official: Former Bilbao goalkeeper Herrerin joins Valencia on a contract until June 2023

La Liga Valencia has officially announced that it has signed 34-year-old Spanish goalkeeper Iago Herrerin until June next year to replace Jaume Domenech after the injury.

Iago Herrerin's career started in 2006. He played for Valencia with Barakaldo, Basconia, Athletic Bilbao, Numancia, Leganes, and Al-Raed, accumulating 77 La Liga games experience. In July 2022, Herrerin parted ways with Al-Raed and began training with Valencia shortly after.

For Valencia, Iago Herrerin's arrival will give Gattuso a goalkeeper with league experience: Valencia's only backup goalkeeper Cristian Rivero could not convince Gattuso after Domenech confirmed his injury due to inexperience in the league. In this case, the joining of Iago Herrerin became logical. Valencia said in a statement that Herrerin" has accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge in La Liga, and he will bring these qualities to the team in his daily work."

Herrerin himself said he was committed to helping Valencia get out of trouble: "I never make a fuss about not being able to play. On the contrary, I always try to push the team and help," he said. "The team is at its best when all the goalkeepers are in good shape and competing with each other. I'm here to push, to help, and to compete, that's what everyone wants."

"It's a bet the club has placed on me. It's very important for me to be back in La Liga, back in Europe. I can't let this opportunity slip away from me."
