OFFICIAL: Trippier extends Newcastle contract until 2025

Following Karius, the 32-year-old British right-back Kieran Trippier also completed his contract extension with Newcastle United.

As the Magpies pointed out in their statement, Trippier has now extended his contract until June 30, 2025. He had just one and a half years left on his contract at St. James' Park before renewing his contract.

Newcastle United, currently ranked third in the Premier League, is Trippier's first stop after returning to the UK. For missing his motherland, the defender joined the Magpies from Atletico Madrid in January 2022, becoming the first signing after the Saudi consortium acquired Newcastle United. He has played 33 times for Newcastle United so far, scoring 3 goals and sending 6 assists.

"I don't want to go anywhere"

Trippier is thrilled to renew his contract. He said, "I am very happy to renew my contract with Newcastle United. I have a lot to say to the manager, owner, fans and my teammates."

"When I first came here they made me feel very welcome and I wanted to help the club achieve great things. The renewal is a positive moment for the players at our club and I don't want to go anywhere .”

"A fitting reward"

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe also sent his best wishes to Trippier. "The extension is a fitting reward for his season. He's been fantastic on and off the field," Eddie Howe said.

"He's just come in and he's shown real leadership in tough moments. At the moment, he's playing well with a great team."

"I cannot praise him enough for what he has done for the club."
