Official: Wolfsburg and Kruse part ways

The Bundesliga club Wolfsburg announced on the 28th that it has reached a termination agreement with its striker Max Kruse.

"After frank and honest discussions, we agreed that this solution is the best for all involved," Wolfsburg sporting director Marcel Schäfer said in a statement.

"We wish Max all the best for the future."

On January 30, 2021, Kruse joined Wolfsburg for the second time, and the two sides signed a contract for two and a half years. Kruse also had a good performance last season: he played a total of 37 times, scored 15 goals and sent 8 assists for Wolfsburg. In the new season, Kruse was excluded from the team by coach Niko Kovac on the grounds of disrespect, so that his number of appearances dropped from 37 to 5.

"We demand 100 percent identification, attention and focus from all the players for Wolfsburg and we didn't find that in Max," Niko Kovac told Sky Sports at the time.

"We don't see any intention or motivation from Max to help the team. The club is more important than everything else."

"We informed him that he will not play for us in the future. There will not be another game to play."

The last time Kruse played was 3 months ago on September 3, he played a full 90 minutes in the Bundesliga as a starter. Wolfsburg lost 2-4 to Cologne.
